Published under Business by Lilia Kerensa. No Comments .

If you are serious about getting your home office set up then you will certainly be shopping around for some home office furniture to turn your design into a reality.

There is one piece of home office furniture that every office must have and that is a computer desk. This is both the hub of your business and the centerpiece of your office.

As you start shopping for your home office furniture be sure to keep a few things in mind to make sure you get the right furniture for your needs. The first thing you need to think about is your office space.

Are you the type of person that already has their dream office already planned out? You may have already envisioned your desk, chair, cabinets, table and even a nice couch or sitting area for your clients to relax. However, you need to consider if you can really fit all the office furniture you want to get.

For example, if you are short on space you wont want to buy a desk that is too big and bulky. On the other hand, you don’t want one that is so tiny you have no space to work.

Also remember, that you wont just have a desk in your office. There are other types of home office furniture that you will probably want to include to help your home business run smoothly. Some of these would be a comfortable chair to go with your desk, you will be sitting in this for many many hours so you will want to make sure you like it. Also, a filing cabinet and storage shelves to hold all your supplies.

Unless money is of no object, you will probably not be buying all of your home office furniture at once. So make sure you use this to your advantage by finding the best possible deals both online and at your local stores.

Thank goodness for the internet, because driving to every furniture store in a 100 mile radius would be both time consuming and would cost you a lot of gas money.

Don’t feel overwhelmed, if money is really tight you can always pick up a temporary desk by using a folding table and a decent computer chair. Then you can upgrade as your business starts to make a profit. There have been quite a few million dollar companies that started on nothing more than a card table in the living room.

Amazing Laser Laminectomy

Published under Health by Andrea Beartoes. No Comments .

by Andrea Beartoes

According to Center for Disease control, Nearly 2.4 million Americans suffer from chronic back pain. The cost to treat back pain directly or indirectly costs approximately $75 billion dollars. American workers suffer from back pain next only to flu, which is debilitating and results in loss of work and income.

Emotional and physical stress is experienced by an individual suffering from chronic back pain. It’s the type of pain that can last for a lifetime, if surgical intervention is recommended by trained physicians. Pain killers, analgesics, and steroidal applications just help in suppressing the symptoms of this chronic condition. Laser laminectomy is the latest and most advanced procedure used to reduce the pain of chronic back pain sufferers. Laminectomy is a procedure which is performed on the vertebra which results in either a partial or complete removal of the lamina. Lamina is the wing like structure / part of the vertebra. Back bone is also called vertebrae in medical terms. The spinal cord traverses through the vertebra.

Patients suffering from severe back pain usually have a condition called spinal stenosis. Spinal stenosis is a medical condition, where the spinal cord nerves are affected resulting in compression of the nerves. The common cause for spinal stenosis is injury, aging or a tumor. Surgical laminectomy was pioneered by Victor Alexander Haden Horsley in 1887. Laminectomy attempts to remove or partially shape the spinal disc to treat conditions like herniated disc.

The most commonly observed symptom of patients is chronic low back pain which further leads to immobility and feeling of anguish. The current method of treating the low lumbar back pain caused by herniated discs is by surgery or use of pain killers. An invasive procedure is recommended in order to prevent suffering and emotional stress. The procedure is done under general anesthesia. The patient first needs to be admitted to a hospital and a small incision is made at the back under anesthesia to perform laminectomy.

An alternate procedure to treat herniated discs and spinal stenosis is by Laser laminectomy. Herniated disc is also commonly referred to as “Slipped disc”. Herniation of the disc occurs when inter vertebral disc bulges out and directly affects the nerves around the spine. This results in pain on the left and right side of the low back. The goal of surgical laminectomy is to remove the pressure on the nerves surrounding the spinal cord; this will relieve pain and allow for physical reduction of the protruding lamina. The patients who undergo laminectomy have a long recovery phase after surgery. This may involve pain medication, physical therapy and exercise.

A minimally invasive procedure called laser laminectomy is a novel approach to treating patients suffering from back pain. Back pain is ancient and can be traced as far back as the Egyptians and Greek times.

Laser laminectomy uses a laser beam to remove part of the nerve or lamina to relive pain in the back. Laser laminectomy can attempt this procedure for herniated discs which is minimally invasive. In surgical laminectomy the patient is put under Anastasia before the procedure is performed. The surgical option is invasive and expensive, has the risk for recurring back pain which may also latter affect the neck.

Treatment for back pain is complicated, costly and chronic. These three C’s, plague Americans, especially the workforce in software research and development. American geriatric population is also affected by chronic back pain and alternative like laser laminectomy needs to be considered as potential treatments.

Online Divorce Records Search

One of the greatest civil amenities that we enjoy from government agencies is Public Records. They come in various specific categories, with Marriage, Divorce, Birth and Death constituting the Vital Public Records group. We can learn a great deal about people from their vital public records and Public Divorce Records are popular for that.

If there’s been a divorce, all the information would go into records. This is not optional. Personal particulars of both the divorcing parties and those of their children if any, other details such as time and place of divorce, filing number, alimony, child custody and visitation arrangement, final decree, certificate and so forth are standard information in Public Divorce Records.

The county courthouses where divorce proceedings are conducted will generate their respective records and upload them to the state network delegated with the function. They are the most common source of Free Divorce Records and any member of the public has the right to request them as long as it’s done through the proper channels.

As divorce records come under state jurisdiction, there are differences in the laws governing them. Some states are stringent while others are easy-going in regard to the records. Along with other public records, divorce records are uploaded to the central state repository while the respective county courthouses maintain their own set.

California Divorce Records are readily available these days and people make use of them for a multitude of purposes. Top on the list is for verifying that previous marriages have been formally annulled when divorcees apply to re-marry. Other uses are checking background, establishing biological relationship and researching genealogy. Restrictions may apply when employing divorce records of others.

It’s easy to conduct a Divorce Records Search. There are basically two options: DIY (do-it-yourself) or commercial record providers. If time and effort are constraints, turning to commercial record providers is more viable. A fee is incurred but it spares you all the hassle and very professional results are typically available within minutes.

Achieve Weight Loss Faster On The Treadmill With HIIT Training

Published under Health by Torii Tompson. No Comments .

There is a way for you to lose weight fast on a treadmill. It’s called HIIT. HIIT stands for High Intensity Interval Training. The great thing about HIIT is that your workouts are shorter, but the weight falls off faster. HIIT is also fun to do on a treadmill because it’s interesting and you can change up your workout routine.

The news of HIIT started circulating among treadmill owners over a decade ago after a study came out reporting how much weight, or fat, could be lost doing HIIT. Once treadmill owners saw the results themselves, HIIT began spreading like wildfire. The study was done over a five month period of time involving two groups of people. The first group did normal steady cardio for 45 minutes. This group began their study exercising at 60% of their maximum heart rate and worked up to 85% before the study was concluded.

Group two would start their routine by elevating their heart rates to 70% of their maximum heart rate. They would then follow this up with ten seconds of less intense exercise that decreased their heart rates, and then a 90 second burst of intense exercise that increased their heart rate, again. This was followed up with an interval of exercise that brought their heart rate back down. This HIIT routine was done over and over throughout their workout.

The study found that the second group who had done the HIIT worked out for less time overall, expended less energy and shed three times more fat than the first group. They also noted that the fat group two lost was mainly the fat beneath the skin, or subcutaneous fat.

So what makes HIIT so powerful for weight loss? After doing HIIT a person’s body goes into what is known as EPOC, or Excess Post-exercise Oxygen Consumption. EPOC is what your body does when it needs more oxygen to return to a resting state. This means after doing HIIT your body is using more oxygen and burning more calories even hours after your workout is completed. One study that was done in 2002 reported that there was an elevated resting metabolic rate in participants even 48 hours later.

Treadmill owners love doing HIIT because it works for so many of them. The added bonus is doing HIIT on a treadmill lets people have a fun workout quickly. HIIT routines are intense, but they should last no more than 20 to 30 minutes. Start your workout warming up to your maximum heart rate range, then cycle in and out of lower heart rate zones and then raise your heart rate back up to it maximum rate, again. Repeat this throughout your workout doing as many, or as few, intervals as you like.

The results you see doing HIIT may make you want to do it every day. But, it is recommended that you don’t. HIIT should only be done two or three times per week because it is intense and it does put the body under stress. Experts recommend putting a day or two in between your HIIT routines so your body has time to adjust. Yet, you can relax knowing that while you may not be doing HIIT every day, you are still burning extra fat and calories!

A Brief Introduction To Aromatherapy

Published under Health by Lorraine Butler. No Comments .

by Lorraine Butler

Aromatherapy is an alternative healing method that is gaining rapid popularity. Aromatherapy is the practise of using essential oils obtained from trees, flowers and other plants. The oils are distilled by steam and when used correctly can aid in treating certain illnesses and conditions.

Each of the literally hundreds of essential oils employed in the practice of aromatherapy have different applications. Some oils are used for a calming effect, others to provide a boost in the energy levels of the patient.

For sufferers of chronic pain or recovering from an injury, aromatherapy can be most beneficial. Even the most serious of conditions can respond positively to aromatherapy. There is also a lesser risk of potential side effects associated with everyday medicines.

Why Choose Aromatherapy

Aromatherapy is an excellent alternative to those seeking natural cures or treatments for their ills. Given it’s safety compared to regular medications, it works well for those trying not to resort to chemically based medicines.

Aromatherapy is used to treat anything from a simple insect bite or sore throat to minor fungal infections. It is even being used to treat more complex matters such as Alzheimer’s with some degree of success in some cases.

How To Start

Firstly, you must learn more about aromatherapy. Aromatherapy is an ancient art that can be traced back for thousands of years. There is therefore much to be learned about aromatherapy and if you are considering starting a treatment then you would be wise to learn what you can beforehand.

Next, learn about the practical applications of aromatherapy. For instance, the aromatherapy massage. Unlike any other sort of massage, essential oils are used for their relaxing, soothing properties. As the scents of the oils are inhaled, the brain responds by lowering blood pressure and heart rate, causing a sensation of relaxation.

Aromatherapy massage is almost universally reported to be effective at both stress and pain management and for this reason is used extensively by people recovering from sports injuries.

Can it ever be easy to loose weight ?

Published under Health by Paula J Hammond. No Comments .

by Paula J Hammond

Weight is not just a simple health problem and an easy weight loss treatment that works 100 percent of the time doesn’t exist; surprisingly, there are methods that provide a high degree of success. Being overweight is the cause of many medical conditions which require long term attention but obesity also affects the way we see ourselves as well.

You only have to look online to see the number of easy weight loss systems available but what most people forget to mention is how important the individual losing the weight is! Before you decide on how you intend to lose weight you need to decide if it is for your benefit; i.e. to remain healthy, or is it because someone else wants you to lose weight.

No matter what weight loss program you choose, you need to take into consideration the following factors; what, how and when you eat, your behavior and the activity level you are planning to have. Losing weight quickly like twenty five pounds a more can actually do more harm than good to your body as it suddenly has to adapt to a lower weight and it can also give unrealistic future expectations.

To lose weight easily often means losing it slowly; for instance, one pound per week is only 500 calories a day and if some exercise and dieting is combined this can be achieved without any health implications. The best diets are where you do not give up foods you enjoy, just cut back on the amount because as soon as you stop eating those foods, the likelihood of the diet continuing is reduced.

How we feel is also a determining factor as people who are depressed or are not happy about their lives usually consume too much. These poor eating habits are causing serious concerns within the medical community as the number of people contracting type 2 diabetes increases which is usually as a result of obesity, not too mention cancer and heart conditions. The psychology behind each persons weight gain is as important as the method of easy weight loss used because if this is not addressed, there is nothing to stop the weight being piled back on faster than it was before.

The success of a weight loss program also relies on the mental attitude of the person involved so if they stay happy and do not get stressed they will more likely lose the weight they desire. It helps to provide an environment of positive mental attitude which is necessary for us if we wish to be successful in any endeavor. Together with the loss of extra pounds comes a boost in energy and vitality as well as a sense of well being that is directly related to an improving self-esteem.

Although they are not easy, easy weight loss programs do bring results if you persist because it is this determination that will eventually help you achieve what you want.

Managing A Business In A Recession

Published under Business by writer. No Comments .

Business coach Paul Simister has written a fascinating article which you need to read if your business is in financial difficulty see Recession Coaching.

Paul recounts how quickly he saw performance of his company change in the 1990-92 major recession which makes sobering reading for anyone who in firm control of their business and knows precisely how it is performing.

It seems there are three types of business:

1 – Those who prepare well for the recession and come out of it in a much stronger position relative to their competitors. These companies will have a relatively easier time in the recession because they have been proactive.

2 – Those who ignore the talk of recession and only take action when the recession comes through in their numbers.

3 – Those companies who ignore any talk of recession and don’t have the financialcontrol systems in place to tell them when things are going wrong. It takes a crisis to stir these companies into action however it may be too late.

Paul Simister has clearly done a lot of research in this area and draws on his own experience and academic research.

He explains a five stages\stages of decline model which typifies companies going through a tough time:

1 – the business doesn’t see the serious problems
2 – the managers see the problems but action is delayed while they try to work out what is happening
3 – the wrong actions are taken because the problems are misdiagnosed
4 – things gets much worse and the business lurches into a crisis and may not have the cash or time needed to recover
5 – the company collapses

This is a worrying sequence of events but you can see why so many companies, and especially small businesses with inadequate financial control systems suffer. They don’t know how the business is performing, the accounts they have is limited and may be misleading and often it doesn’t focus on the underlying drivers of performance.

What was even more alarming reading the blog was that as managers see the issues, they make attributions about the causes of those problems and whether anything can be done.

According to the blog, these attributions are based on three dimensions:

1 – are the sources of the problems internal or external to the business

2 – are the causes controllable or uncontrollable

3 – are the problems permanent or temporary

Research indicates that the common attributions are that the problems are external, controllable and temporary.

This says that the managers believe that if they work harder at generating and converting leads, they can overcome the external problem of the recession and even if they don’t, the problems will only be short lived.

Unfortunately this may not be the cure and the next attribution is external, uncontrollable and temporary.

The article argues that this is the exact opposite of the attribution needed to seek external business advice to help solve the problem.

It’s not the business that needs to change, nothing can be done and the tough times will be gone soon.

In the blog he then goes on to challenge each of these attributions and shows that this approach will lead many companies to their doom.

Instead they need to see the problems as:

1 - Internal – the firm must change

2 – Controllable – all the turnaround stories show that there are secrets to success which can be applied

3 – Permanent – seeing the problem as short term is an easy excuse to procrastinate.

This is a fascinating blog posting and I recommend that you read it. The Business Coaching blog contains many other articles on Business Turnaround and profit improvement strategies.
