The Collie Dog: Essential Dog Help

Published under Others by writer. No Comments .

The Collie makes an excellent sporting dog and a most faithful watch, guard, and companion.
The skull should be flat, moderately wide between the ears, and gradually tapering towards the eyes. The width of skull necessarily depends upon combined length of skull and muzzle; and the whole must be considered in connection with the size of the dog. The cheek should not be full or prominent.

The muzzle should be of fair length, tapering to the nose, and must not show weakness or be snipy or lippy. Whatever the colour of the dog may be, the nose must be black. The teeth should be of good size, sound and level; very slight unevenness is permissible.

The jaws clean cut and powerful. The eyes are a very important feature, and give expression to the dog; they should be of medium size, set somewhat obliquely, of almond shape, and of a brown colour except in the case of merles, when the eyes are frequently (one or both) blue and white or china; expression full of intelligence, with a quick alert look when listening.

The ears should be small and moderately wide at the base, and placed not too close together but on the top of the skull and not on the side of the head.

The neck should be muscular, powerful and of fair length, and somewhat arched. The body should be strong, with well sprung ribs, chest deep, fairly broad behind the shoulders, which should be sloped, loins very powerful. The dog should be straight in front. The fore-legs should be straight and muscular, neither in nor out at elbows, with a fair amount of bone; the forearm somewhat fleshy, the pasterns showing flexibility without weakness. The hind-legs should be muscular at the thighs, clean and sinewy below the hocks, with well bent stifles. The feet should be oval in shape, soles well padded, and the toes arched and close together.
In general character he is a lithe active dog, his deep chest showing lung power, his neck strength, his sloping shoulders and well bent hocks indicating speed, and his expression high intelligence. He should be a fair length on the leg, giving him more of a racy than a cloddy appearance.

A Collie should show endurance, activity, and intelligence, with free and true action. In height dogs should be 22 ins. to 24 ins. at the shoulders, bitches 20 ins. to 22 ins. The weight for dogs is 45 to 65 lbs., bitches 40 to 55 lbs. The smooth collie only differs from the rough in its coat, which should be hard, dense and quite smooth.

Whatever breed of dog you get it is essential that it is correctly house trained. Find out more

Taking Your Dog To The Park: Top Pet Care Guide

Published under Others by writer. No Comments .

A great way for your dog to get the exercise it needs is at the local pet park. Pet parks provide various activities for the pet to do. This may include things to climb on, a place to run and even other animals to interact with. The fact is that this is a great way for pet owners to fully allow their pets exercise that is good for them.

Just as you would take your child to play at the park, take your dog. Most pets will find that this is a great way to move and play. You can often meet other pet owners here as well and find some friends to enjoy.

It is very important that your pet be socialized in order to participate in the pet parks available. To find out if your area offers this type of park, contact city hall and ask. If not, find out if you can help get one started.

By training your pet to do tricks it means helping them to become fit. A dog that learns how to fetch, for instance, is a dog that is going to get a lot more running and movement to his day when you play with him.

The old saying that you can not teach an old dog a new trick is not accurate. Pets of all ages can be trained to do various activities. You can do this with your pet and see his exercise level increase.

A good way to keep yourself on track for your pet’s exercise requirements is to simply schedule time in your day to make it happen. Pets need to be an essential part of your day. You can schedule their time for exercise just as you would pick the kids up from school.

Making it a part of your schedule helps you to stick with it and it will help your pet to stay on schedule too. Most importantly, it helps you to remember to exercise your pet. Without that reminder, most people will put it off and forget, leaving their pet without this important benefit in their life.

Recreational After-school Programs: Top Parent Tips

Published under Family by writer. No Comments .

After school programs fallcan be divided into 3 broad categories: academic, recreational and social. Balanced development takes place when there is compatibility between the physical, mental as well as the educational achievements of the child.

As the name implies recreational after school programs are focused on a sport or recreation. Some of the more common physical activities include football, swimming and basketball. Some clubs offer programs like gymnastics, trekking and hiking. In|this case, youngsters maybe given a short class in first-aid class as well.

Recreational after school programs offer children an opportunity to let off some steam and to destress themselves. The closed classroom atmosphere and a day full of textbooks and writing can cause a child to repress his natural enthusiasm. They curb their energy when they are required to sit quietly in class and learn. Physical activity is an all-time low during such times. This physical lethargy and inaction is countermanded by recreational activities. Growing concerns of obesity and child diabetes make it essential for kids to indulge in some strenuous exercises that will allow them to work up some sweat.

Unlike educational programs, recreational programs do not tax the mental processes. But, they do aid the learning process by making the child more active. A child who is physically active is mentally fit, and is able to focus their thoughts on the work at hand. Additionally, recreational programs teach discipline, mechanics of teamwork and fair play. These are essential lessons in the growing process.

As more and more nuclear families emerge, the child faces greater isolation. Many kids shuttle between their classroom and their bedrooms and do not have any meaningful relationships outside these. Recreational programs offer ample avenues for socialization. This is a place the child can go to and play even when his neighbor is not the most welcoming. The Boy / Girl Scout programs are excellent recreational after school programs. Lately, survival classes and camps have devised to combine important survival skills with sports and games to educate kids on how to handle emergencies.

Like any good after school program, recreational programs are designed to give children a safe area where they can indulge in some group activities that interest them. This is one of the most effective ways to keep kids out of the streets and out of rouble. But, one has to be careful when enrolling children for recreational classes. The age of the child, his temperament and his physical caliber has to be taken into account before you choose the right program for your daughter or son.

Perhaps, the first step in planning a pool party is to let everyone know that you are having one. Although pool parties may not be like birthday parties or Christmas parties, you may still want to send invitations to your guests. These invitations, if you choose to send them, do not have to be elaborate. In fact, since your pool party will most likely be casual, your invitations should be as well. If invitations are not your style, simply phone or send them an email, inviting them to your pool party.

Having an accurate guest count may help you better prepare for your party. In fact, a guest count may enable you to determine how much food, drinks, or snacks you should have on hand.

If you are planning on having a barbeque with your pool party, you will need to decide what type of food you would like to serve. Like any other special occasion, you may want to have a wide variety of different foods. This will ensure that there will be at least one thing on the menu that each guest will enjoy. In addition to main courses, such as meat, you will also want to include side dishes. These side dishes commonly include fruits, vegetables, and salads.

After you have decided which foods you would like served at your barbeque, you will also need to think about making them. Even if your party isn’t for a few weeks, you may still want to develop a cooking schedule ahead of time. Although your main courses, such as barbequed meat, will be prepared the day of your pool party, you may want to prepare everything else earlier that day or the day before. This will help not only to ensure that you get all of the food prepared on time, but that you are also able to enjoy your own party.

If you are planning on having a pool party, without serving a large meal, you may still want to have snacks and drinks on hand. Non-alcoholic drinks and most snack foods can be purchased for a reasonable price. Alcoholic drinks make for a great party, but some drinks can be expensive to purchase, especially in large quantities.

Aside from the food and entertainment, you may also want to make sure that you have a number of pool supplies and accessories on hand. These items may include, but should not be limited to, beach balls, lifejackets, arm floaties, swim rings, floating chairs, and other popular swim toys. If you do not already have a large collection of swim toys, you can easily purchase a few low-cost ones. Many pool toys, such as swim rings, arm floaties, and beach balls, can be purchased for a reasonable price. In fact, many of these items only cost around two or three dollars. It may also be a good idea to have extra towels on hand, just in case any of your guests forget to bring theirs.

Although pool parties are designed to be fun, you may want to establish some pool rules ahead of time. These rules may help to keep your pool and your pool party guests safe, especially young children. Whether you plan a simple pool party or an elaborate one, it is likely that you will be happy with your decision to plan your party, ahead of time.

Carpet Tiles: Practical Home & Garden Tips

Published under Home by writer. No Comments .

Carpet tiles are available in a huge selection of designs and a great choice of materials as well. Bordered, geometric, contemporary, or bamboo can give your floors a complete makeover and a great look as well.

When you go out to buy carpet tiles, you’ll need to consider where you plan to install them. The tiles will vary in density as well as thickness. Carpet tiles with more thickness have a cushion so that it’s soft on the surface, making them ideal for homes. They will also provide a degree of thermal insulation as well. The thinner types of tiles are best for offices, gyms, and other high traffic areas. All carpet tiles are easy to maintain and will last you for a long time.

The tiles will come in a variety of materials and patterns. If you choose, you can make your home a greenhouse by using bamboo carpet tiles, or you can choose terracotta carpet tiles that will give your interior an earthly feel.

You may just want to liven things up a bit or play down your floor, depending on the look you are going for. Carpet tiles that are made from foam, rubber, linoleum, and vinyl are best for children’s rooms, office spaces, or other high traffic areas. The cost for the tiles will depend on their thickness and density, which means that the prices can range from 1$ per square foot up to 40$ per square foot.

Carpet tiles can offer you several advantages when you compare them to wall to wall carpets. They are easy to install and easy to transport. They are very durable as well, and can last longer than most types of carpet even when they are used in high traffic areas.

You can also unleash your creative side as well with carpet tiles. You can mix and match different tiles, or use a color for the border and even create a distinctive look using various patterns. Unlike wall to wall carpet, you don’t need any professional help in case of tear, wear, or staining. If they become torn or stained, just replace that tile with a new one.

There are carpet tiles available to fit each and every taste, even budget and furnishings style as well. As they are less expensive, they will offer you the chance to experiment with your interior. Pretty much the same with carpets, the installation of tiles is very important.

They must be installed on hard surfaces, such as stone, cement, or ceramic tile. The surface has to be smooth and clean, so the adhesives will last and your floor will have a well finished look. The carpet tiles will normally have cushion or padding already installed, which will reduce the cost and extend the life of the carpet.

And for areas that come into contact with water such as the kitchen, utililty room and bathroom there is no better floor surface than ceramic tile. And you can save hundreds of dollars by learning how to lay tile well. Learn more

Using Chicago Remodeling To Enhance Home Value

Published under Home by writer. No Comments .

Hiring a Chicago construction contractor to help to increase the value of your home can be a wise investment in this turbulent market. It may simply be an improvement in one room like the kitchen or bathroom or maybe an addition to bring the house up to par with other nearby houses.

Many times when the home is listed there is a particular feature that will appeal to new buyers. This is often a newly renovated kitchen or bathroom as these both are strong selling points for many buyers. Also their other cosmetic things you can do if you already have these two rooms in order.

Grab a pen and paper and take a tour of your home. Some might be thinking “why, I know my home like the back of my hand.”

Do you?

When was the last time you really took a good look at your home? Like anything in life, wear and tear will eventually happen; it happens to our cars, it happens to any of the appliances we use, heck, it even happens to us. Yes, just like our bodies which may be due for a cosmetic enhancement sometime in the future, so does the home require a cosmetic touch up every now and again.

What Chicago home improvement areas are we talking about? Let’s take a look at just a few:

- The windows are one of the first impressions to buyers. Are your windows in need of repair or replacement? Possibly some paint is all that’s required. Double pane windows are huge for enhancing value. Security shutters are another value-added feature.

- The house may simply need a new paint job. Most homes do after a certain period and if you have been in your home for more than ten years without having considered the condition of the current paint work then think about it. It can make the whole difference. Times change and so do color preferences and it could well be your home is out-of-date with the current color trends.

- How about new floor coverings? Your carpet may be faded and needs replacing or your floor tiling is old and tired looking.

- Check your light sockets. Yes, light sockets! How many do you have? Chances are, there are not enough in the house.

- Clean up the clutter around your home both inside and outside. It’s unsightly and presents an unfavorable image to the buyer.

- Check your taps and faucets. Are they leaking? Get them fixed and in good operating order.

- How about the roof of your home. It’s another first impression spot and if it’s looking worn and tired then pay it some attention.

These are just some Chicago remodeling suggestions you can take on board and while some may be minor it’s amazing what a difference they can make. If you make any major changes then it will pay to check with your neighborhood regulations to see what standards need to be followed.

Selling a home is all about initial impressions. If people don’t like what they see initially then they won’t come back. If they do like something initially then they’ll be back for another look. And you’re still in the game!

Are You A Nadal Or Federer Fan?

Published under Recreation by writer. No Comments .

Do you dream of seeing Rafael Nadal or Roger Federer in the flesh someday? Do you wish to sit at the front row seats to witness the spectacular finals of the French Open or Wimbledon?

The beauty of any tennis match is that every player has the chance to win a tournament. Even unseeded players surprise spectators when the former reach the finals of a Masters series or a Grand Slam tournament. The 2007 French Open, for example, witnessed the rise of the Serbian star, Ana Ivanovic. Although she lost to the defending champion Justine Henin, Ivanovic didn’t lose hope and claimed the trophy of the 2008 French Open.

In the men’s draw, it is not all the time that Roger Federer or Rafael Nadal will bag the trophy. In 2008, for instance, third seeded Novak Djokovic grabbed the Australian Open trophy from Federer and the Rome Masters Series title from three-time defending champion Rafael Nadal.

This scenario is perhaps the major reason why many people dream of watching a tennis match live. People travel the world just to book a seat at their favorite player’s best surface. If you are a Federer fan, you would probably dream of going to the Wimbledon. If you are a Rafael Nadal fan, the French Open or any other clay court tournament is surely your best bet.

If you are a true tennis fan, you definitely have concrete plans of going to these tournaments. You may have spent months and years saving for this opportunity to come. After all, getting a good seat in these tournaments will cost you a fortune, not to mention the plane fare and the hotel that you need to book. Any travel is not complete without buying memorabilia from your destination. The usual souvenir items include key chains and t-shirts.

On your way to London or to Paris, for instance, you are torn between bringing along your briefcase just in case you have time to slip in work in your travel. Sports enthusiasts, however, will not suggest that you tag along your laptop briefcases or leather briefcases as these may not be at all sporty. You might want to grab your backpack instead.

When you are already in the tennis club ready to enjoy the spectacle that lies ahead of you, all you need to do is be with the game and enjoy it. After all, you need to get the value of your money spent in taking yourself into that venue.

Your Last Resort To Stop Acne Breakouts If Traditional Cures Don’t Help

Published under Health by writer. No Comments .

The evolution of acne skin care is remarkable. The use and effectiveness of laser treatment for acne skin conditions have undergone a true revolution lately since laser machines have been upgraded and adjusted. Patients suffering from active acne lesions and scarring who have undergone the laser surgery have experienced amazing results, like reduced scars and less production of sebum which is the oil causing clogged pores and acne breakouts.

You will have to think over certain things in case you decide to take laser acne treatment. For one, you need to know that the laser treatment is one of the most serious treatments for acne, and therefore you should first try the traditional cures and if they fail to work then laser treatment can be your last resort.

You will also need to speak to your doctor about this first before going through with it, and as well make an appointment with a dermatologist who will be able to determine whether or not you are an eligible candidate for the procedure. For instance pregnant women and young mothers breastfeeding their baby can not apply for an acne laser treatment..

Tony Evans: Sinning Saints

Published under Society by Daniel Lalond Jr.. No Comments .

by Daniel LaLond Jr.

The highly respected Dr. Tony Evans teaches that “committed Christians may fall into sin, but a carnal Christian bathes in.” Evans continues, “He has the mindset, motivation and methodology of sin.”

Saints who bathe in sin? There are, insists Evans, “saints who act more sinful than sinners even though they are on their way to heaven.” Dr. Evans plainly promises paradise to the unrepentant, even to those who adopt Satan’s lifestyle! To Dr. Evans Paul might say: “Know ye not, that to whom ye yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants ye are to whom ye obey; whether of sin unto death, or of obedience unto righteousness?”

Tony Evans plainly promises paradise to those alleged “sinning saints” who bathe in sin. Reader, ask yourself, what career criminal or devil doesn’t do likewise? Perhaps heaven will be full of devils if Dr. Evans dogma is accurate. If Romans 6:16 and the following were all the holy writ had to say on the matter, which they are not, these scriptures would be plenty to label Tony Evans’ sinning saint notion as heresy. Consider:

Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God. In this the children of God are manifest, and the children of the devil: whosoever doeth not righteousness is not of God, neither he that loveth not his brother. 1 John 3:9-10

Sinning saints, namely, those who “bathe in sin,” will not inherit the kingdom of God although Anthony T. Evans insists on the converse. You see, Tony Evans does not understand that the salvation offered in the gospel is salvation from sin not in it. According to the scriptures to believe Evans is to let him deceive you: “Little children, let no one deceive you. He who practices righteousness is righteous, just as He is righteous” (1 John 3:7).

Freedom from sin’s debasing chains, namely, the only freedom offered in the gospel, is good news for all who are tired of their bondage. For professing Christians who want to have their cake and eat it to, however, the gospel is not good news. With a heavy heart Paul wrote to the Philippians:

Many walk, of whom I often told you, and now tell you even weeping, that they are enemies of the cross of Christ, whose end is destruction, whose god is their appetite, and whose glory is in their shame, who set their minds on earthly things. Phil 3:18-20

“Carnal Christians” taking refuge in the promises of Tony Evans are not bound for heaven, in Paul’s words they’re “enemies of the cross of Christ.” Evans’ sinning saint fancies mirror a romance rathar than sound theology. They are theological clouds without water silently stupefying God’s people into spiritual sloth and destruction.
