Diaper Bags Are A Window Into Celebrity Acceptance Of Raising Families

Published under Family by writer. No Comments .

While raising a child in the “good old days” was certainly not a walk in the park, the frantic pace of life today has made parenting even more difficult. Thankfully, modern parenting gear is here to help keep pace with us. So let’s take a look at some of the great ways to thrive as a parent in the modern world.

Many do not realize it, but modern parenting products make being a mommy-n-the-go easier than ever. Car seats are safer, strollers are more comfortable, and diaper bags are built to last. This means that society, in general, is more accepting towards parenting in the public arena – and that’s great news for women’s rights too.

This trend is especially visible with designer diaper bags. Consider how yesterday’s diaper bags only came in two varieties: frumpy, or ugly. Also, old-school diaper bags were usually just big totes with little organization. Modern designer diaper bags, however, have a different style for every day of the week, and all of them make organizing all that baby gear practically painless.

It’s clear that the stylish remix of diaper bags represents larger social trends. So, yes, we are definitely harried, trying to balance all of our roles as mothers, workers, wives, and daughters, but at least our roles are reflected more in society than ever before.

Have you chosen a Halloween costumes for your kids yet? These days, you can find kids Halloween costumes almost anywhere. Grocery stores even sell them! If you’re on a budget this year, you can create your own Halloween costume, or you can purchase one from the store for a more “authentic” look.

Costumes from famous people are not only popular, they are fairly easy to put together. The best way to go with the famous person costume is to go with the outfit the famous person is most noted for. For instance you can dress up as Waldo from the where’s Waldo books by putting on a striped red/white shirt with blue pants and a red and white stocking cap.

Superman has been a favorite Halloween costume with kids for over 30 years. In this particular costume, there are a variety of commercial versions of this costume as it might be a little tough to pull off by finding things around the house. Most include tights, a bodysuit in red and blue and a red cape. Many little boys use a towel around their necks when pretending to be Superman during the year so having a Superman costume can be fun after Halloween is over too.

Clowns bring smiles to everyone’s faces. Clown costumes can range from very elaborate costumes, to the most simple, and still pull off the look. Kids can use wigs or they can spray colored hair spray to change their hair color. Make-up or a big red nose can help with the look. You can go with makeup, or without. But if you prefer, you can use a mask. Just remember with a clown costume, you can let your imagination flow! But since it is Halloween, this is one occasion where it might be appropriate as well to create a scary clown costume if your child is old enough to handle this type of costume.

Another idea is dressing your child up as a dragon. A body suit that has scales/spikes along the center of the back works well for a dragon costume. This costume is especially cute on little kids! If you want to find a dragon costume, you can make one by hand if you’ve got some sewing experience, otherwise many commercial dragon costumes are available.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, is a knight that slays dragons! This would be a great idea if you have 2 children who will be trick-or-treating together! One child can be the dragon, and one can be the slayer! Dressing your children with the theme of dragons and knights is fun and can help to encourage a playful theme between your children for Halloween. With movies like Eragon becoming so popular, these costumes are going to increase in popularity.

Sponge Bob is a fun character that kids can dress up as for Halloween. A pair of brown shorts, black belt, and a yellow shirt with circles to make it look like sponge holes, and a silly look on their face will complete your Sponge Bob costume. If you want a more realistic Sponge Bob costume, you can find them for relatively inexpensive commercially as well if you’re short on time or creativity.

One cute and quite original idea is dressing your child up as a cookie! To pull off this look, just cut a large circle out of flannel or fleece sewn together so that your child’s limbs can fit through the fabric with the cookie centering around the child’s body. Then draw some dark circles on the fabric with a dark marker to resemble chocolate chips! Try varying this idea for your next costume contest.

With all the possibilities available there should be quite a varied range of costumes at your next costume party.
