How to make money with your blog is a question that is often asked, that offers an array of suitable replies. And it is, I think, a very well deserving question - why shouldn’t blog writers make some extra money from their thoughts put to screen inside the pages of their blog? Here are some of my favoured suggestions.
An easy one to start with is Google’s Adsense. Google examines your site and its textual content and determines which of it’s adverts are most suitable for your web site content. By peforming this it hope to show advertisements that are most likely to be of interest to your regular readers. Your account then makes money when your readers click on these adverts to go to the advertisers - with most of these clicks earning you money. What you can potentially earn is determined from how many clicks your adverts are likely to get and what your website is about. Some subjects are worth far more per click than other subjects.
The popular second choice must be Amazon. With this setup you can advertise specific items from within their catalogue or you choose to have their system show their choice of items from your selected keyword. You just enter a keyword and they show the books (or other ranges, if you select) that are relevant to that keyword. On a blog this might mean just using one keyword to cover the entire blog, but that shouldn’t be an issue. You can also display more specific links on individual posts. Here you are making money each time a new customer clicks through to the Amazon web site and then goes on to purchase an item.
ClickBank is another popular option, this time selling electronic downloaded books. As with Amazon you can show slected products or make use of a frame that advertises all e-books that match to a keyword. Again, you are making an income for each purchase made after a click on your pages.
Generic affiliate schemes are a possibility, but I included the above three schemes as they offer products that most of the others don’t offer - they aren’t geographically dependent. Most affiliate schemes are only able to handle traffic from their own country, as distributing to another country causes headaches. Google gets around this by offering adverts only related to the country the visitor is in, whilst ClickBank can happily sell to most countries, as it is selling the items electronically. But if you are very specific and not seeing many visitors from abroad, then there are no doubt a wealth of affiliate schemes for you to join and take part in.
Lastly, there are a wealth of pay per post web sites. Not without their own problems, here you earn an income for writing a post within your blog that acts as a referral to the advertiser. The fees vary, depending on the campaign and your own blog. But you can typically only join up to such services with an established blog. Blogs must be typically 90 days old. The total your blog can earn depends on its subject matter, the advertisers and how many posts you are able to write.
