Care for your eyes

Published under Health by Joseph. No Comments .

There are many ways we can make sure we are practicing proper eye care:

  • Proper protection from the sun’s ultraviolet rays. Wear a sunglass where required when you are out in the sun or have some sort of headgear with a brim.
  • Smoking can affect your eyes. If you do smoke, consider that proper eye care is yet another good reason to quit. Tobacco can cause problems with the proper functioning of the eyes and the smoke itself can irritate and over time cause damage to the surface of the eye.
  • Do not take too much alcohol. While alcohol can have some positive benefits for the body, too much of a good thing can lead to permanent damage, even to your eyes.
  • Make sure you are getting plenty of fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet. Many vegetables are an excellent source of beta-carotene, considered by many to an essential mineral for strong eyes.

Practicing responsible eye care does not have to be a hard task. Much of what you should eat will benefit your overall health, as well as promoting good eyes. For more information, you can read this website on care for your eyes.

How to prevent pests at home

Published under Home by Joseph. No Comments .

While it can take time, preventing pests at home can be relatively easy. To prevent pests you need to do three things:

Get rid of food sources, water sources and living areas. One of the first steps is to remove and clean up any food waste, standing water or clutter.

Check the outside of your home to make sure you do not have anything that may draw pests to your home. Wood should be properly stacked off the ground, garbage bins should be tightly closed; tree branches should not be touching the house.

Check for any cracks in both the inside and outside walls of the house. The kitchen seems to be the biggest place for pests, so take extra steps in there.  Clean up dirty dishes quickly; take garbage out promptly, do not keep recyclables in the house; wipe up spills and dry them; do not leave open food containers sitting around.

You can recycle books

Published under Society by Joseph. No Comments .

Any book you have can easily be recycled.  It doesn’t even take a lot of effort.  You have a few choices in how you can do this.

  • You can actually recycle the book, by removing the binder and recycling the pages with your other paper to be recycled.
  • You can sell the book to a bookstore or even try selling it online.
  • You can donate a book to your local library or a local school.

All three methods are pretty simple.  Inside of just chucking it into the garbage you can actually see that it goes on to be used again – either in its original state or throw a recycled product.

Find Inspiration for Killer Songwriting

Published under Arts by Joseph. No Comments .

Writer’s block is fairly common, especially among beginners who wants to try it.  There are as many different sources of inspiration for writing a great song as there are snowflakes or fingerprints.  All it takes is a little practice and those creative juices will be flowing once again.

Here are some ways:

Watch TV.  Is global warming burning you up?  Or maybe human trafficking is giving you road rage?  John Lennon is best known for “Imagine,” which was in itself a protest against the Vietnam War. Whatever the idea, some of the best songwriting, like that of Bob Dylan and newer bands like Rage Against the Machine, is politically charged.

Read your old diaries.  Love, and all the positive and negative aspects of it, are a good place to start.  Just thinking back among your past relationships can give you a year’s worth of material.

Look at your life.  Just take a look around at your present circumstances.  “I’ve Seen Better Days” is a song that parodies the singer’s daily life.  The music isn’t memorable, but the lyrics ring true to many people of that age group.

Music first, lyrics later.  Another method taken from the hip hop world is to come up with the music before writing the lyrics.  Many develop their beats, or the track that will loop under the rhymes, before writing a single word.  They then freestyle without having anything written down to develop the lyrics.

Freewrite.  Grab a pen and paper, and spend 10 minutes writing whatever comes to mind.  Don’t worry about spelling and grammar or if it makes sense, just keep writing.  After your 10 minutes are up, look it over and see if you have some ideas you can expand upon to make a song out of.

Biodiesel Fuel

Published under Science by Joseph. No Comments .

Biodiesel fuel is an alternative fuel that comes from 100% renewable resources.  It burnly cleanly and is often considered the fuel of the future. Biodiesel does not contain petroleum, but can be mixed with petroleum to produce a biodiesel blend that can be used in many different types of vehicles. Biodiesel Fuel is biodegradable and non-toxic, making it safer then common table salt.:)

I think that Biodiesel is an innovative and important fuel that is rapidly becoming more available to the general public.  Right now it can be found around the country.  Although it costs a little more than traditional fuels but rest assured that demand will grow. The public will realize the benefits of a biodegradable fuel source which will ultimately bring down the price.  Right now, though, the cheapest way to get biodiesel fuel is to make it at home yourself.
