If so, you should consider keeping these lights shut off or should consider limiting the amount of time throughout the day that you allow these lights to remain on. This can save a great deal of electric power.

Though this simple process may not save you hundreds upon hundreds of dollars a year, it is truly one of the most productive steps you can follow to gain savings. Don’t underestimate this simplistic action.

There are also numerous companies that manufacture and distribute “energy efficient” light bulbs. These light bulbs are designed to limit electric input while providing a sufficient output of light. You may not see immediate extrication on your bills, but if used for a prolonged amount of time you can save money.

Setting timers in your home or business is another great idea. If you use air conditioning or heating on a regular basis but are not at either location throughout the day, you are able to set a timer to keep these elements off while you are not there. You can then set them to come on before you come home or into the office.

These are just three very common yet highly powerful ideas that you may consider when you get serious about saving electricity. If you put these ideas to use you will save money and will also assist in saving the environment.

What Power Of Attorney Means

Published under Family by Sam Jones. No Comments .

People cannot always be certain what to expect from life. That is why they find it necessary to have certain documents ready in case something happens. These papers generally allow other people to act on their behalf. This is generally referred to as the power of attorney.

It is essential to understand the different terms relating to this concept. The person who initiates and signs the agreement is called the principal. The person he or she appoints to make the decisions for them is called the agent. In addition, one should note that different types of agents and documents exist.

These categories include a general, special and health care power of attorney. The general category usually has extensive powers appointed to them. These powers include access to safety deposit boxes, maintaining business interests and filing tax forms. Such powers can be effective if the principal is abroad and cannot sign for himself or is too physically ill to do so.

A special agent does not have such extensive powers. They are appointed to take care of certain matters only. These matters can be anything like collecting debt, selling property or even borrowing money.

The health care category is where someone has the permission to make important health decisions on behalf of the principal. This is generally the case in severe accidents or mental incompetence. It is required of the agent to act according to the preferences of the principal. Therefore, the principal should ensure that his health care agent understands his wishes exactly.

Should the principal become unable to make important life or financial decisions, the agent will make it on their behalf. A friend or relative that is appointed the power of attorney should therefore have the principal’s best interests at heart. It might be a good idea to talk to a legal advisor before signing any documents.
