Free Books For Kids - Download Audio Books

Published under Family by writer. No Comments .

Kids truly love stories. And kids love it when somebody spends some time to tell or read them a fine story. They usually have a few favourite stories that they want to hear over and over again. That’s good, because it allows them to continue to develop the mental images that go with the story and to make use of their own fantasy.

Some parents do a really great job helping their kind to develop their creativity and to allow them to have stimulation other than from TV. Others are simply not aware, how important it is to further this capacity of imaginativeness, fantasy and mental images. Video games and television may be very parctical to keep kids busy and out of your feet, but they are not really helping the development of your kids mental abilities.

“I’m lacking time to read stories to my kids” you may say. That’s indeed a problem for some parents, more so if you are a working parent and if you have to take care of all the household chores after your normal work hours. That however does not mean that you can not stimulate the brain of your kids with interesting stories. Fortunately, there are plenty excellent recordings of childrens novels and stories for kids on the market. These audio books come either on Compact Disc in physical format or even more convenient, free online books for kids can be downloaded online and you can then either listen to them on your PC, burn them to CD and listen to them on a normal stereo or on your car audio system, or they can be directly played on an iPod.

The great thing is that many of these kids tales can be found for very little or even no money at all! The offer of audiobooks with kids adventure stories is very large and you are sure to find the audios that contain stories that your children love best.

Roald Dahl Books - Some of the more well known authors and stories are i.e. Roald Dahl and his series of well known and popular stories like i.e. Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, “The Witches” or “Charlie and the Great Glass Elevator”. These are the tales kids love. They are taken out of a fantasy world but contain elements that the kids can identify with in their own daily life. The descriptions of the characters and places where the story happens are detailed enough to provide the kids with a good base to start, but then the writer leaves plenty of room for their own fantasy. A good story well told is really ‘cinema in the head’!

Lean back a few moments and close your eyes. Now try to remember one of the stories that you were told when you were young, or if nobody told you a story (how sad…) try to remember a book you read then. Normally you will experience that a combination of images and even feelings will pop up in your head and you are taken back into a long forgotten imaginary world.

Make sure that your kids will be able to also experince these great recollection when they are a bit older, help them nurture one of the most important mental abilities, creativity and fantasy! With a good kids audio book you can wake up mental abilites that will serve your kid the rest fo their life …. and you will have a lot of really happy quiet hours yourself, as the kids will listen to these tales over and over again.

Celebrating Your 21st Birthday

Published under Family by writer. No Comments .

There are many significant birthdays, like the very first ever, the 13th birthday and entrance into adolescence, and the 18th and 21st birthdays. The latter is even more significant in many ways because at this age, even more freedoms and choices are available that weren’t before, such as drinking and gambling, and access to other types of twenty-one and above clubs. At this age, young adults are learning about themselves, the world, and everything in it, and it’s different for everyone, that feeling of total independence associated with reaching that magical age of twenty-one. And I know we all celebrated in some way or another on our 21st birthday, and it probably involved lots of food and drink! Maybe we didn’t feel too good the next day either but it sure was worth it!

Turning twenty-one is a great reason to celebrate and there are lots of ways to do it! A birthday party is the most popular choice of course, and everyone wants their party to be unique and memorable. If looking for something different check out the internet for lots of ideas to wow the guest of honor and everyone in attendance. There are many online retailers that feature huge selections of unique invitations, special gifts, balloons, party favors, creative decorations, and tableware, and most everything needed to throw an unforgettable bash! There are many themes to choose from and don’t forget the 21st birthday cake, with a staggering number of decorating options available. It can be fun, cute, sexy, naughty, or nice, and will surely be the center of attention second to the birthday guy or gal!

A 21st birthday happens only once and it should be the biggest blow out bash ever! It is the most important one of all, and usually the most memorable, either for good or bad reasons, but hopefully for all good ones! It’s a great time to get together with family and friends, both old and new, and take lots of digital pictures to send out to everyone later. Celebrate the accomplishments made and the one’s yet to be conquered. Also lots of great 21st birthday speech and toast ideas, which will be quoted for years to come. That’s what everyone wants, for their party to be the topic of discussion, and to not be forgotten by anyone, especially the guest of honor! A 21st birthday is truly one of the best, and one should never pass by without being celebrated!

Orlando Family Holiday

Published under Family by writer. No Comments .

Orlando vacations are notoriously hectic particularly with all the attractions the kids want to visit, but there is so much more to enjoy in this busy city. There are enough shops, markets, museums, art galleries and much more in Orlando to keep even the most ‘difficult to please’ person satisfied.

A lot of people, when choosing an Orlando vacation, straight away think of Disney World and weary parents may resign themselves to spending several days chasing their kids around a theme park. Here are some other ideas to enhance your Orlando Vacation, and you may be impressed.

Your first worry perhaps is your budget. However, you would have to find out about the cost of your stay, the cost of theme park tickets and the cost of your meals to keep your budget realistic. But then, the whole Disney World is so big and there are so many sites and characters to see. You would have to map out your itinerary for your whole vacation.

Your accommodations will cost a large chunk of your budget so you have to arrange it carefully. There are those would be satisfied with a value room so they will be able to afford more days and they would have more for theme park tickets. They would rather get the Park Hopper alternative than spend more on hotel rooms. Find out more on where to stay in Orlando.

Whilst Orlando may appear on the surface to be a town intended for the entertainment of children that could not be farther from the truth with adults equally well looked after. For the young at heart, Orlando vacations aim to please with extensive evening venues including music and dance at Disney’s incredible Pleasure Island and Universals version, City walk, to name just a couple of places.

One of the challenges that many people face is finding a cheap Orlando vacation. After all, airfare, hotel accommodations, meals, and theme park entrance fees can take a big bite out of your pocketbook. One way of saving on accommodations is to rent Orlando Vacation Villas.

You can save money on Souvenirs by buying them at discount stores like Wal-Mart. Of course, the quality may not be the same so you can probably only get away with this if you have very young children. But it is a good savings tip for keeping on a budget for your Orlando Disney vacation. I hope this information can help you save a bit of money on your trip.

Kart Racing

Published under Family by writer. No Comments .

Developed in the 1950´s by pilots with a eagerness for tinkering with motorcycle engines to propel simple frames, go-karting extended internationally after the construction of the first go-kart by Art Ingels in Pasadena. Before dwelling on it’s mass European appeal and discussing the height of Formula 1 racing, let’s backtrack for a second. Riding go-karts (or karting) is the best means to break into professional racing.

Go Kart racing is now a popular sporting activity amongst sport lover adults. Cart Racing is a very exhilarating type of race for adventurous people with high level of adrenalin. In Go Kart Racing small four wheeled vehicles are used. It is an open wheeler motor sport and considered as the preceding stage of higher-ranking motor sport. Thinking of buying a kart and whether you should go for new or preowned go kart?

Most go kart racers are familiar with about gear ratio and racing go kart gear ratio charts are listed in numerous places. Racing go kart gear ratios are figured using the number of teeth on the rear sprocket of your go kart divided by the number of teeth on the clutch gear on your go kart engine. For instance if you were running a 15t clutch gear and a 60t rear gear it would be 60 / 15=4. Simply put this means 1 revolution of the axle to 4 revolutions of the crank. With that said, where do you go to buy go kart racing supplies?

It’s not easy to lose control of a go kart when it’s traveling at a top speed of 5 mph, but it’s a very ordinary thing at 60 mph. It’s the drivers who have the attitude “it won’t happen to me” that seem to end up in trouble more often. And when a driver thinks of his gokart as a toy instead of a racing vehicle that’s where the trouble can start. But on the contrary, it’s the drivers that take safety measures seriously that have the most fun with the least accidents. So driver bewares.

The importance of balancing your go kart racing tires can not be overstated. Most people wouldn’t even consider putting a tire on their car or truck that has not been balanced. Yet some of those same people will mount up a new tire for their racing go kart and not balance it at all. The truth is that it’s of much greater importance to balance your go kart racing tires than any other tires. Even when using today’s fully machined go kart racing wheels, there’s a need for balancing. There are numerous styles of go kart racing tire balancers on the market. If you have metric wheels instead of American pattern wheels you will need a metric adapter kit. Every karter should balance all their karting tires before ever putting tires on go kart.

A Name From The Bible Or An Uncommon Baby Name

Published under Family by writer. No Comments .

Rain or shine, every day millions of new babies are born providing a happy moment that makes parents world-wide wide eyed, cry, laugh, hug and kiss. And, while the thrill of a new baby can dominate the thoughts of parents, there is always one important factor to be made as soon as possible. That decision is to choose a baby name that gives additional special meaning to your baby forever.

While there is nothing unusual about choosing a baby name that is more common like John, Bob or Jill or Betty, some parents want a unique baby name that it is special. There are hundreds of ways to find these unique baby names. One way is to search the internet for sites that offer a host of baby names based on, for example, bible baby name, famous historical figures, pianists, artists or such. On the other hand, you can venture to your local retailer and purchase a number of thousands of names listed at your fingertips.

If you really want an uncommon name for your baby, there is an even more original way and that is to create your own. You can use a combination of your own first name with that of your spouse, or grandparent, sister, brother, relatives or even good family friends. The important thing here is to be able to tell to your child how they were given their name and why it is special and unique. Here’s a simple paper and pencil trick you can use, and although it is a little time consuming, you can begin to combine names by breaking them into syllables and combine different syllables until you have found the right combination.

This same method can be utilized to pick your baby’s middle name. A special way I’ve found that works is to take the first and second name of the baby’s parents. You can then merge these names by using the syllable method, or you can reverse the names to come up with your own. For example, Robert and Ann can be combined to give you Roban, or Tanya and Robert can be combined to give you Robtan.

To create your own baby name can be one of the most wonderful gifts you can give to your child. Your child will always know that you created their name to recognize that they will always be one of a kind individual. Why not take a few minutes with your partner and create your own special name. And, each time you call their name you’ll always be reminded of how special they are to you.

Baby Monitor

Published under Family by writer. No Comments .

Everyone with a baby should have a baby monitor. The idea behind a baby monitor is that you can have the facility to move around the house or your yard and still be able to keep tabs on your baby by listening or now viewing your baby.

By having a baby monitor, you do not have to frequently walk in their room to check on them. Listening to a baby monitor can keep you from waking them up every time you go in their room. Waking up a baby out of a sound sleep can be upsetting to both you and your baby.

It’s very helpful and handy nowadays to have a video baby monitor as it helps you keep an eye on what your baby does or listen to what he says, whether he’s calling for you or is crying because he is wet, sleepy or hungry.

Through a video baby monitor, you never miss a second checking out your baby while you work on something else in another room in your house. You need not shell out for a nanny to watch over your child as he sleeps and you need not worry going away from your baby because you have another important thing to attend to—all you need is a video baby monitor. When buying a baby monitor, you should know what are the qualities of a good baby monitor.

Look for the following features when buying a baby monitor. There are two types of baby monitors, wireless and plug-in. It is recommended that you buy the wireless one, as this one ensures mobility and freedom to use outside of the house. If you purchase the wireless baby monitor, you get more flexibility and you are not stuck to only one location. Also, you can take it out with you in the range specified and monitor the activities of your baby while finishing your other chores. Find out more about the advantages and disadvantages of wireless baby monitors at babymonitorguide.net.

The quality of your monitor will decide the kind of reception you would get, although most monitors are designed for optimal performance. Some popular models are ‘Graco Ultra Clear Monitor’ and ‘Graco Family Listen N Talk Monitor.’ Other models like the DaisyCam™ is a beautifully designed fun baby monitor with clear TV transmission and crystal clear sound and rechargeable batteries. Before going out to shop for the best baby monitors, make sure you get all the information that you need to know about baby monitors.

Apart from these features, you should also make use of recommendations on the performance of the baby monitor from published reports and user comments. This is more important than going by the brand name since some manufacturers produce different models that perform better than others in their product line. Do not focus solely on the cost. Keep in mind the quality. Generally, the baby monitors will start from about 30 to 40 dollars and can go up to 150 dollars or more.

Essential Parent Guide: Home-based After School Program

Published under Family by writer. No Comments .

So, your child’s school does not offer any extracurricular activities. You are worried of depriving your child of all that extra knowledge and fun. What can you do?

After school activities do not have to be taught in a school-like environment by qualified teachers in a structured and timely manner. There is a lot YOU can do to support your child’s academic, physical and social development. Do not be too concerned about formal programs, as many of our kids are already over-scheduled.

Obviously, school is top priority for children. They need to go to school, and complete their homework. They should then do their daily reading or writing work etc. This may take about 30-60 minutes. In the course of his daily work, your child may develop certain academic preferences and interests. In that case, you can try and find a program in a college or a community center that will help and encourage them. In the age of the world wide web, information is really not a rarity. Allow them to use the internet to find more information about things that they curious about. Encouraging a child to do independent research to gain in-depth knowledge is something that no formal program does.

If you are concerned about the lack of social life, enroll him or her in a club - a reading club perhaps. Visit public libraries or even the museum, if your child is interested. It is not necessary for your child to make friends with kids their own age. A parent-child book club is another interesting option. If you can round up a number of like-minded kids and their parents, you could start your own after-school program.

When there is no organized group activity, look to your community. Many children like to get involved in social problems. They get their first real taste of suffering, charity and community help from such experiences. Volunteering for clean-up sessions, adult education programs etc could be a real eye-opener for your child. The lessons thus learnt are invaluable.

If physical activity or the lack of it is your major concern, enroll your child for some dancing or sports classes. If organized sports are impossible to get, try to enroll them in a gym.

Your child does not necessarily have to be a part of an organized group to benefit from after-school activities. There are various avenues open in front of you. Roping in the enthusiasm of your children in daily household activities like cooking, cleaning etc can also provide them with a refreshing extracurricular experience. And, it will strengthen family ties too.

Of course, face painting is a great activity to share with your child. And it’s not as difficult as you might think. Discover more:

Top Parent Guide: Language Development From 1 To 3 Months

Published under Family by writer. No Comments .

Never forget, these stages of your baby’s development are broad and that no baby will fall precisely within the time frame of these expected milestones. They are merely a rough guide.

One month. Your baby will comprehend speech long before they begin to speak. From birth they will look at your face and listen to your voice. They will make a small range of noises that will begin to mean something to you, such as their way of exhibiting hunger or pain. These noises will include crying and certain sounds that your baby makes while they are breathing.
Your baby’s cry is a vital way for them to communicate. Crying lays the foundation for speech as your baby learns to control the air that comes from their lungs and learns how to use their vocal cords. Crying is your baby’s way of telling you that they are hungry, cold or upset.

Two months. Your two-month old baby is beginning to pay more and more attention to their world. They will be fascinated by the sound of your voice and will follow it around the room with great concentration. The different tones of you voice will keep them interested for short periods of time. Your baby will respond with a variety of cooing sounds, vowel-like sounds, and sometimes some consonant sounds such as a “k”. You will learn that your baby has quite a collection of cooing sounds that they use to communicate with you as well as discover how to use the sound of their own voice.
Talk to your baby as much as possible to encourage their cooing response. Look directly into your baby’s eyes to show that you are listening. This helps to establish signals of communication between the two of you.

Three months. Your baby will recognize your voice and will turn towards you when they hear you talking. They will be starting to laugh out loud and will often startle themself until they learn that they are the one making the sound. Your baby will be making sounds such as “ahhhh gooo”. They will squeal when they are happy and content, again often startling themself as they learns their own abilities.

Continue to talk to your baby as much as possible, as well as sing to them and read them stories. The more you communicate with them and let them know that you are listening the more they will attempt to communicate with you.

Stopping Your Child’s Interruption Habit: Sure Fire Parenting Tips

Published under Family by writer. No Comments .

Teaching your son or daughter not to interrupt can sometimes be an exercise in frustration. Telling them there’s a time to interrupt (for instance, in case of a fire) and a time to not interrupt (boredom) isn’t enough. But putting these principles into practice is easier said than done, especially for a very verbal or high-energy kid. That’s why now is a good time to revisit some basic lessons about good manners and teaching your son or daughter to wait their turn to speak.

For starters, set a reasonable expectation. School-aged children have a difficult time holding their thoughts for more than a few minutes. Indicate to them as best as you can that you’ll be with them as soon as possible and then stay true to your word.

Develop some ideas for them to occupy themselves with while you’re on the phone or otherwise unavailable. Keep a box full of puzzles, crayons, colorful markers or other quiet toys nearby that they can only use when you have to make a call. Set drinks and snacks on an accessible level so they don’t have to interrupt you for help.

When you need to make a call or have an important conversation with a visitor, head off trouble by saying you’re about to phone someone or have a conversation and estimate how long you expect to talk. Ask them if they need anything before you make your call or have your conversation with your visitor. Then try your best to stick to that time schedule, and excuse yourself from the conversation long enough to check on them. Let them know you’ll be a bit longer if that’s the case and see if they need anything before returning to your conversation.

Reading is an excellent tool to teach manners. Find several books on the subject then read them together. Discuss afterwards what your son or daughter learned from the story and how they’ll handle a similar situation in their life the next time it occurs.

And as always, children learn what they live. Your son or daughter is very unlikely to learn not to interrupt if they hear you, your spouse, or their siblings constantly interrupting each other. Your actions have a strong influence on your son or daughter, so be a good example and seek permission to speak before speaking, and apologize when you inadvertently interrupt.

Your goal is to be a good role model for your son or daughter. You want to lead by example.

An excellent way to build a bond with your son or daughter is to have a shared interest. So why not take up face painting. Kids just love having their faces painted and being able to face paint is so handy for all those themed birthday parties, Halloween and other festive occasions.
